Letter to Friend Describe a Road Accident You Have Recently Seen

Examination Hall,
A. B. C. (City).
March 20, 2014.

My dear Friend,

I hope that this letter of mine will find you in the best of your health and spirits. I received your letter yesterday. You have asked about my welfare. Thank you very much for that. I am feeling well these days. On the other hand, I am absolutely appalled at the awful accident witnessed which occurred a fortnight ago due to the rash and reckless driving of two bus drivers. It seemed that they were in a hurry and were trying Save time. But in trying to save a few moments, they had to lose their life. The horrible scene still haunts me. I have not been able to shatter the memory of that horrible accident.

Never tell me that accidents are always pathetic, distressing and heartrending. The accident I am going to narrate is tragically terrible. I with my friends headed towards Swat on a recreation tour. We all were excite and thrilled. We travelled without any hitch until we reached the Malakand Pass. The scenery around was mesmerizing. Mountain slops were carpeted with lush green vegetation and beautiful wild flowers. Fluffy clouds were drifting in the blue lake of heaven. Cool balmy breeze was blowing from the brow of hills. Though the road winding around the cliffs looked somewhat scary, we were enjoying the Venture.

Suddenly two buses overtook us at surprising speed. The daredevil drivers did not know that they were involved in a death trap. All of a sudden, a truck appeared from the curve of a cliff and collided with one of the buses. Both the drivers tried their level best to avoid the mishap but unluckily they were at their wits' end. There was a loud bang and the vehicles jammed into each other. The second fast flying bus also crashed against them and then the three vehicles rolled down the slope at a terrific speed into the deep gorge below. It was a grim scene. The heartbreaking shrieks of the ill-starred passengers echoed back from the hills. We got down the jeep quickly and rushed to help the passengers come out of the ill-fated bus. The blood-stained bodies were lying around. There was a painful hue and Cry among the passengers. Many passed away at the spot. Some received serious injuries and fell unconscious. It was a terrible sight. Human flesh and blood was visible on the arid stones all around. We were horror-struck. However, a taxi driver offered his services and we took the severely injured passengers to the hospital. At the mean time, the police arrived and started the investigation by recording the statements of the passengers. The people were feeling sorry for the dead and the injured, and had tears rolling down their cheeks. In this way, the happy life changed into sighs, groans, sobbing, weeping and bewailing. We cancelled our programme and returned with heavy hearts. Though I saw this horrible accident a fortnight ago, the shocking effect of it is still fresh in my mind. I finish my letter with the prayer that Allah Almighty might bless the departed souls with heavenly peace.
How uncertain life is!
Yours sincerely,
X. Y. Z.
