Michael Hart's book "The Hundred" is the record of the lives and achievements of hundred great men in the world. Our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is number one. Michael Hart declares that he was the most influential man in the world. No doubt about it. Next to him in the list is the greatest scientist of all times, Sir Isaac Newton.

Newton was born in England on Christmas Day 1642, the same year that Galileo died. As a child, he showed great interest in machines. He was a bright child and showed considerable mechanical aptitude right from the beginning. But at school he did not take any interest in his studies. When he was a teenager, his mother took him out of school, hoping that he would become a successful farmer.

But fortunately, he rejoined his studies and at eighteen he entered Cambridge University. There he got the education of science and mathematics. After this, he moved on to his own independent research. Between his twenty-first and twenty-seventh years, he laid the foundations of the scientific theories that changed the world.

Between 1664 and 1666, he discovered the law of universal develop calculus, a branch of mathematics. From 1669 to 1701, he worked as a Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge University.

In 1687, came his greatest work, "Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy.” In it, he showed how his principle of universal gravitation explained both the motions of heavenly bodies and the falling of bodies on earth. His works on the study of heat and on the study of Sound are equally great.

He influenced the world more than any other scientist has ever done. The world in which we are living is a complete departure from the world of the past. The services rendered by Newton have improved the life of a common man. Galileo set the pace of development of modern science and Newton revolutionized the world.

These laws explain motion of every type - from the swinging of a pendulum to the rotation of the planets. These investigations proved the basis of modern engineering. They paved the way for great changes. Modern development is all indebted to these basic principles.

Lifestyle of the people a century before Newton and that a century after his death show the marked difference. This difference indicates how important Newton's work has proved for a common man. The influence that his research has brought opened new horizons. The resultant scientific discoveries have revolutionized technology and science. Newton was the most brilliant of all the scientists. At the same time, he was also the most influential figure in the development of the scientific theory. He died at the ripe age of eighty-five years. His work will always keep him alive.
